This may not be an issue for a company with a single conference room with audiovisual equipment, but it is certainly desired for companies that have several conference rooms, such as a conference center.  Traditionally, companies that had multiple audiovisual environments might have several technicians run around the building checking on systems that were not functioning correctly.  They would be cleaning projector filters, checking on the life of the lamps, and changing lamps.  With the introduction of simple IP devices, we can have e-mail sent out to a technician advising them that a lamp is going to need replacement in 200 hours, or a filter needs to be cleaned, or that a system is not functioning.  These devices can also automatically shunt a system down every day at a preset time, saving the company an enormous amount of money in electricity and the cost of lamps.
